UCLA Health now seeks an experienced, strategic and visionary information technology expert to serve as the Chief Information Officer for UCLA Health Sciences, which is comprised of the UCLA Hospital System, the UCLA Faculty Practice Group, the David Geffen School of Medicine and the Schools of Dentistry and Nursing. The CIO leads the organization’s information systems, security, data and analytics, and clinical informatics in support of the UCLA Health mission of delivering leading-edge patient care, research, education and community engagement.
Reporting to the Vice Chancellor, Health Sciences, with dotted lines to the President, UCLA Health and Dean, David Geffen School of Medicine, the Chief Information Officer (CIO) will lead a strategic and integrated information technology function that services and supports the efforts of the entire health system and aligns with the overall organizational mission, vision and strategy. As a senior leader, the CIO will create and maintain high functioning teams, cultivate a culture of transparency and fairness, and possess a deep commitment to mentoring and developing staff. The CIO has oversight of $223M in labor/operating costs and $28M in capital expenditures in addition to supervision of 8 direct reports and 922 full time employees. All leaders are expected to foster an equitable, inclusive, collegial, anti-racist and multidisciplinary culture consistent with the principles of the Cultural North Star, CICARE, and True Bruin Values.
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience as a senior Information Technology leader in a large, complex academic medical center.
Demonstrated success and expertise in information technology healthcare leadership, including past successes supporting and optimizing Electronic Medical Records, improving customer satisfaction, driving innovation, and strong fiscal performance.
Deep understanding of the impact of advanced information systems technology and analytics on patient care.
Deep understanding of the impact of data sciences on the biomedical research enterprise.
Evidence of a management style that inspires a culture of achieving excellence through teamwork, trust, collaboration, and accountability.
Passion for innovation.
Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
Ability to work in a matrixed environment and to engender cooperation and collaboration through building successful relationships.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (required).
Master's degree (preferred).
