Assistant Director, Emergency & Critical Care Coding Management
JOB SUMMARY: The Assistant Director supervises a section; analyzes and evaluates departmental policies and procedures; develops general standards and maintains quality performance through monitoring and feedback to staff; recommends personnel actions, e.g., hiring, promotion and termination.
Develop and supervise general standards and maintenance of quality performance through monitoring and feedback to staff.
Operations Review Evaluation:
Conduct or originate staff meetings to develop resolutions to problems, plan to achieve goals or establish priorities
Participate in brainstorming sessions with staff or consultants to address specific problems or issues
Conduct routine staff meetings to share essential information with staff and discuss current problems and future plans.
Monitor and Coordinate Programs and Actions:
Supervise a section with responsibility for planning, coordinating, and controlling the work and procedures
Participate on interdepartmental committee to address problems and facilitate in formation exchange about programs, problems, etc., inform and advise supervisors about personnel actions which are likely to result in grievances
Conduct selection interviews to evaluate qualification of applicants/potential employees
Develop cost reduction projects and targets in collaboration with subordinate managers and operation department managers
Counsel employees with regard to disciplinary actions taken in response to violations of institutional policies or contractual provisions.
Planning and Budgeting:
Participate in periodic management meetings to keep top management informed of department problems and concerns
Analyze and evaluate ongoing department programs to identify areas where adjustments/improvements are needed
Evaluate work loads, priorities, and activity schedules to determine staffing requirements
Investigate procedural problems and develop alternative methods to solve those problems
Recommend changes in departmental policies, procedures and/or methods
Conduct performance appraisals on subordinate supervisors
Prepare an annual operation budget for a section, including direct labor, material and supplies, services, equipment maintenance and replacement.
Identify and Resolve Problems:
Provide information to others (oral or written) to explain/clarify problems, issues or requests
Adjust work schedules or project priorities to meet emergencies or changing conditions
Meet with other professional/technical personnel to determine causes of a specific problem.
Project future budget based upon analysis of current operations
