As the Vice President, Benefits and Compensation, you will be responsible for driving ChristianaCare's total compensation strategy to support the talent management necessary to achieve organizational objectives. You will provide thought leadership and strategic direction on all benefits and compensation programs and offerings for caregivers, including design, development, implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of ChristianaCare's compensation and benefits approach.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop, lead and execute the comprehensive strategy for Total Rewards using compelling and equitable compensation and benefits analysis, using industry standard best practice sources to deliver programs aimed at attracting and retaining talent.
Optimizes compensation and benefits expenditures through benchmarking, in-depth analysis, market insights, vendor analysis and/or reallocating costs to yield the highest ROI. Ensures that budgets and department financial performance comply with business strategic initiatives and budget requirements.
Works closely with external consultants to drive long-term strategic change especially in the Benefits and Retirement areas to ensure long-term viability of plans within significant regulatory and financial constraints.
Guides the development of benefit and compensation programs including health and welfare, savings, work life initiatives, base pay, incentive pay and executive compensation.
Participate in discussions and recommendations with the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors on executive compensation design/execution as well as strategic benefit issues.
Ensure and validate regulatory compliance of programs including retirement health, welfare, wellness, base pay, vendor contracts, incentives, and other rewards programs.
Benchmarks against best practices to ensure programs are current regarding trends, practices, organization philosophy and competitive environment to enhance recruitment and retention initiatives.
Develops meaningful total rewards communication material to reinforce Christiana Care's value proposition.
Creates rewards structure that supports succession planning, enabling employees to participate in cross-functional developmental opportunities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree required
Masters degree preferred
At least ten years of Total Rewards experience; in managing compensation and benefits programs and large health and wellness plans
Experience collaborating, presenting to and working with executive management
Merger and Acquisition experience preferred
Acute health care system experience is preferred
Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) and/or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) and/or Certified Executive Compensation Professional (CECP) preferred.
Knowledge of the health care delivery system and the ability and skill to align Human Resource strategies and tactics to maximize effectiveness
Knowledge and understanding of best practices in total rewards programs
Knowledge of human resources management principles and procedures and related labor law
Strong business acumen and financial analysis expertise
Skill in persuading and negotiating on a wide range of topics that might be sensitive and/or controversial
Skill in inspiring and building confidence in others to create alliances and partnerships
Skill in mentoring and coaching
Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships with internal and external partners and business leaders across the organization
