Job Summary:
Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking an experienced paralegal in the Office of Legal Affairs (OLA). Working closely with OLA's Insurance, Population Health and Regulatory Compliance group, the paralegal will be responsible for reviewing and drafting contracts relative to healthcare and pharmacy transactional matters, including non-disclosure agreements, statements of work, professional service agreements, business to business service agreements, and assisting with general healthcare-related matters as needed. The paralegal will also perform legal research and organize and maintain complex legal files.
The candidate must possess at least five (5) years of related experience, preferably in healthcare transactions, healthcare procurement or general corporate matters. Healthcare and pharmacy experience or experience working in or with an academic medical center is a plus, as is knowledge of the HIPAA Privacy Rule, Business Associate Agreements, and general healthcare compliance and reimbursement. The candidate must have paralegal certification from an ABA-approved paralegal program or a Bachelor's degree in paralegal or legal studies. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees, customers, and attorneys; handle high volumes of work in a fast-paced environment; and track and meet deadlines. Familiarity with matter intake, case management and document management systems preferred.

General Responsibilities:
- Reviewing and drafting contracts relative to healthcare and pharmacy transactional matters;
- Performing legal research;
- Organizing and maintaining complex legal files; and
- Assisting with general healthcare-related matters as needed.
Qualifications:
- Graduate o f an ac credited college or university and five (5) years of related experience or the equivalent; and
- Paralegal certification from an ABA-approved program or a Bachelor's degree in paralegal or legal studies.
