DetailsSalary:Depending on experienceType:Full Time - ExperiencedDiscipline:ExecutiveServes as the Chief Executive Officer, responsible to the Board of Directors, through the President and Medical Director, for the effective conduct of the affairs of the organization. Recommends and participates in Board formulation of IUI/SCI’s mission, goals, objectives and related policies. Within that framework, plans, organizes, directs and controls the responsibilities as outlined.

Supervision Exercised: Director of Operations, Research, Marketing and P/R Coordinator, Information Technology, Facility/Maintenance, Business Office, A/P Clerk, Physician Assistants
Essential Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
- Ensures sound administrative, budgetary, and financial management
- Coordinates with the Board as necessary to effectively conduct the business of IUI/SCI.
- Makes recommendations to the Board to maximize productivity and profitability.
- Completes annual budget, coordinates with CPA, presents to the Board and executes.
- Analyzes internal financial reports (i.e. provider production, charges, collections, accounts receivable, income statements, balance sheets, accounts payable, etc.).
- Establishes and implements effective management policies, procedures and records.
- Oversees utilization/statistical review and management.
- Manages risk and practice liability.
- Insures the completion of monthly financial statements, budget review and profit/loss analysis.
- Authorizes the payment of accounts payable as set by the Board.
- Maintains banking relations and oversees loan negotiations.
- Coordinates long-range financial development and management of IUI/SCI.
Board Relations and Development - Fosters practice growth and vitality through the Board of Directors and its Committees.
- Recommends, develops and upgrades strategic long-range plans.
- Relays to the Board of Directors information regarding trends/problems/activities in the health care industry to aid with policy development.
- Recommends to the Board of Directors actions and activities regarding administrative/legislative matters.
- Serves as the liaison between the President, Board of Directors, physicians, clinical and administrative staff.
- Assists the Board, assuring effective governance of IUI/SCI, builds a strong governing body and planning for monthly, quarterly and annual meetings.
- Assists in the creation and operation of effective committees that contribute to the policy-making process.
- Maintains “common vision” among physicians and the leadership team.
- Assists the Board in development of governance and management policies and procedures with periodic review/revision.
Program Management - Plans and administer IUI/SCI programs, activities and services.
- Oversees strategic planning functions/trend forecast.
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies governing health care delivery and the rules of the various accrediting bodies, assuring that operations, programs and physical properties are continually monitored and initiation of proper/timely changes.
- Negotiates contracts
- Seeks out new practice locations/business opportunities. Negotiates agreements with existing physician groups or recruit and negotiate with new physician practices.
- Serves as legal liaison for the organization.
Marketing and Public Relations - Interprets IUI/SCI's mission, goals, objectives and programs to external groups and to the general public.
- Develops an effective marketing and public relations program.
- Serves as liaison between IUI/SCI and its outreach locations. Determines the viability of new outreach locations and negotiations with those locations.
- Provides leadership to the Board in formulating strategies and resources to promote IUI/SCI’s goals.
Facilities and Equipment - Ensures sound management and maintenance of facilities and equipment.
- Provides oversight of the acquisition, utilization and organization of IUI/SCI resources.
- Oversees space development, including evaluation of equipment and building leases.
- Serves as liaison with real estate ventures.
- Represents IUI/SCI in relationships with other providers, health organizations, government agencies, third party payers and the business/industry.
Management Information Systems - Ensures Information Systems development to support the organization.
- Formulates an Information Systems’ plan to keep pace with change/technological improvements.
- Keeps existing equipment operational and ensures new acquisition in a timely manner.
Human Resources - Supervises a qualified staff to implement programs, activities and services.
- Assists in the recruitment of new physicians and in the negotiations of new physician contracts.
- Serves as the physician/management liaison.
- Hires and evaluates administrative management team.
- Consults with the appropriate administrative and supervisory staff and department representatives prior to recommending and establishing new policies.
- Helps leadership, management and supervisory personnel in establishing department philosophy and objectives related to staffing and performance standards, policies and procedures, job classifications, compliance with government regulations, etc.
- Resolves medical administrative problems and promotes staff communication,
Community Liaison - Maintains close working relationships with the community.
- Serves as the spokesperson for IUI/SCI, in conjunction with respective IUI/SCI President.
- Responds to suggestions and concerns from all IUI customers.
- Ensures close cooperation with civic, service, educational, and professional organizations.
- Maintains hospital relations.
Professional Development - Stays professionally “fit” in an ever-changing environment.
- Maintains professional affiliations and enhances professional growth and development to keep current of the latest trends in medical administration.

Qualifications
- Master’s degree in health services administration or MHA, MPH, or MBA or equivalent advanced degree.
- At least five years of progressive health care management experience, preferably in an independent medical group and multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience and or education in the following areas:
- Practice marketing
- Accounting/finance/banking
- Purchasing
- Contract negotiation
- Human resource management
- Medical and financial management information system
- Physician recruitment
- Facilities construction and/or design
- Billing and collections
- Hospital relationships
