Position Summary
In coordination with the Director and the Diagnostic Manager of Heart and Vascular services, the Heart Station Manager is responsible for strategic plan execution, daily planning, organizing, coordination and evaluation the activities for the Heart Station department. Assures the efficient day-to-day operational function of assigned areas to ensure quality care and service are provided. Plans, organizes, directs and monitors daily department performance. The Manager ensure that staff adhere to system policies and procedures. The Manager participates in the development of and manages the budget to target, oversees day-to-day operations of the resources, both human and supply, space and equipment, patient registration, scheduling, office operations, charge capture, physician relations, and the general business functions of the Heart Station areas.
Reporting Structure
- Heart Station Manager will report to the Diagnostic Manager
Recruitment/Onboarding
- Assist with recruitment of new hires for Heart Station technicians and diagnostic nurses
- Manage the candidate pool
- Oversee interview process including coordination of interviews with the Director of Non-Diagnostics and other appropriate stakeholders
- Work with the Talent Acquisition Consultant to obtain compensation quotes and make offers to candidates
- Coordination of onboarding of new employees with the Diagnostic Manager and Heart Station Technicians/rotations
- Directs and supervises assigned personnel including performance evaluations, scheduling, orientation, and training. Makes recommendations on employee discipline, terminations and similar actions. Resolves grievances and other personnel problems within position responsibilities.
Human Resources/Staffing
- MCE and OHO Heart Station Technicians will report direct to the Heart Station Manager
- Ensure staffing is adequate to meet demands for heart station activities at MCE/OHO
- Assures efficient daily operations of department, appropriate use of supplies, workflow and productivity to meet patient needs and to manage to budget
- Leads and influences the development of staff by creating a practice climate of responsiveness and learning which supports retention and recruitment of competent staff
Quality
- Ensure clinical standardization for Holter scanning, EKGs, Autonomic Function Testing and Tilts
- Collaborate with the MCE/OHO Diagnostic Manager and/or Nurse Manager to complete the EOC items related to diagnostics
- Collaborate with the Director of Non-Diagnostics to ensure quality data and metrics are met
- Actively coordinates clinical quality improvement and safety efforts within the department and clinic with departmental quality and safety goals
Operations
- Maintain equipment inventory for EKG, AFT, Tilt and Holter monitors
- Monitor diagnostic templates and reconcile with appropriate staffing needs
- Coordination with Business Manager on template design, work ques, supplies, and billing workflows as needed
- Assist the Director of Diagnostics with student placement as needed
- Coordinates the assignment of tasks and helps resolve technical and operational problems. Evaluates the impact of solutions to ensure goals are achieved.
- Participates in performance improvement initiatives and demonstrates the use of quality improvement in daily operations.
- Provides effective direction, guidance, and leadership over the staff for effective teamwork and motivation and fosters the effective integration of efforts with system-wide initiatives.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies such has Joint Commission, and ensures compliance to all health and safety regulations and requirements.

- Bachelor's Degree
- Three years of experience in a direct care position
- Strong cardiology/EP background to understand the complexity of services in the heart station
Preferred Experience/Skills
- Experience in care of patients with EP disorders
- Prior leadership experience with proven team building
- Must possess the interpersonal and communication skills to provide effective participation of leadership and to interact with patients, families, physicians, and other staff
