RN Risk Analyst - Coastal Georgia

We are seeking an experienced RN Risk Analyst to join our team!
The RN Risk Analyst coordinates Risk Management Program initiatives throughout the Southeast Georgia Health System, evaluates patient and visitor safety events and implements risk management programs designed to enhance patient safety, reduce injuries, and prevent claims. All team members of Southeast Georgia Health System will promote a culture of safety, follow established policies, and adhere to all state and federal regulatory requirements, The Joint Commission requirements and national patient safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Investigates risk exposures utilizing the following methods: regularly reviews reported safety events, conducts medical record review and interviews of team members and/or medical staff when appropriate, prepares risk summaries and reports, coordinates with multiple clinical and professional departments to resolve risk issues, and consults with the Director of Risk Management. Follows up with team members and/or complainant when appropriate.
- Serves as the administrator of the Health System's safety event reporting system. Reviews all reported patient and visitor safety events and assigns event investigations to appropriate leadership for review, follow-up, and closure upon completion. Follows up with team members and/or complainant when appropriate.
- Collaborates with Quality Improvement Department on certain safety events to identify risk exposures or trends and to prevent claims and mitigate future occurrences. Facilitates causal analyses in coordination with Quality Improvement.
- Collaborates with Patient Experience Department on certain customer complaints involving potential risk exposures. Conducts clinical reviews as requested by Patient Experience and routinely meets with Patient Experience to facilitate resolution of issues in a timely manner.
- Promotes Risk Management initiatives throughout Southeast Georgia Health System. Coordinates the resolution of issues related to Risk Management Policy, Procedures, The Joint Commission and regulatory bodies. Provides risk management assessment of processes, procedures and programs, and serves as a liaison between Health System staff and the Director of Risk Management.
- Collects, evaluates, and maintains data concerning events, claims, and other risk related occurrences as applicable. Conducts and prepares clinical reviews for claims and assists the Director of Risk Management in obtaining and preserving clinical evidence as applicable.
- Investigates and analyzes root causes, patterns or trends that could result in compensatory or sentinel events. For sentinel events, performs immediate investigation, prepares necessary report(s), and facilitates root cause analysis in a timely manner.
- Develops weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on reported/identified patient safety events. Provides reports on risk trends as requested.
- Actively participates in Medical Ethics Advisory Committee. Facilitates Ethics consults on a case-by-case basis when requested and prepares summary report of each Ethics consult.
- Actively participates in committees related to risk management, patient safety, and/or quality improvement.
- Coordinates and assists with risk management projects as assigned.
- Provides education on risk management topics as needed, requested and/or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
Experience
Five (5) years of direct clinical patient care experience required. Risk Management Experience or Certification in Risk Management preferred.
Licensure
Current Registered Nurse License to practice in the State of Georgia if nurse applicant
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Interpersonal communication; Risk evaluation; interviewing skills; medical terminology; analyze data; analyze trends; risk analysis. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
