The Director of Psychiatric Nursing Services is accountable for strategic planning, program development, patient care quality and safety, and evaluation of care and services delivered to patients with mental health disorders. You will oversee clinical and administrative operations for the adult inpatient psychiatry service as you establish and ensure that the standards of care for psychiatric and mental health services are consistently applied throughout the organization wherever psychiatric care is rendered. This includes adult and pediatric inpatient services, psychiatric emergency services, adult and pediatric partial programs, electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and the constant observation program.
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university; Master’s in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing or related degree
Rhode Island RN licensure
National certification in psychiatric nursing or nursing administration within one year of hire
7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in psychiatry/mental health, preferably gained in a similarly diverse and operationally complex healthcare environment
Thorough knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Rhode Island and state mental health laws
Demonstrated competence to participate in interdisciplinary formulation of individual treatment plans; to provide skilled nursing care and therapy; and to direct, monitor and evaluate the nursing care being provided
Effective leadership/management skills and commitment to a culture of quality and safety
