The Director, Clinical Quality Excellence is responsible for the planning and execution of AU Medical Center's overall Quality and Performance Improvement activities health system wide including the AUMC, Children's Hospital of Georgia, and its ambulatory clinics. The Director will have oversight of Infection Prevention, Quality Measure Collection and Submission, Medical Staff Peer Review, Nursing Peer Review, Patient Safety Program, and Regulatory and Accreditation Compliance and Readiness.
Develops strategic plans for standards in a manner that promotes a culture or organization excellence.
Develops strategic plans for the health care improvement function within the facility in collaboration with the administrative and clinical leaders of the health system.
Collaborates and cooperates with Risk Management and compliance, Nursing, Medical Staff, Care Facilitation, and Patient Experience to assure strategic initiative to achieve the highest quality, satisfaction, and safety of care for our patients with the goal of national recognition in these areas.
Is highly visible within the facility and touches all areas of the organization.
Has direct responsibilities related to preparing reports the Quality Committee of the Board of Directors and presenting directly to the Quality Committee of the Board of Directors, Senior Leadership, Clinical Service Chiefs, and Health System Management updates related to the regulatory/accreditation functions performed on behalf of the Health System.
Represents the VP/CMO in activities related to clinical excellence, regulatory requirements, and accreditation functions.
Is responsible for developing and managing the annual operating budget for the department and accountable for facility funds allocated to meet the financial obligations associated with the department.
Represents the organization to regulatory/accreditation agencies and is the primary contact for those external organizations.

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Allied Health Science with Master's in either Nursing or Health Care Administration or applicable Master's Degree in Health Sciences, business, law or related field.
Licensed to practice as Professional Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia or have an active Multi-State Registered Nurse Compact License.
Must have 5-7 years of health care experience and at least 2-3 years proven leadership experience working in a healthcare setting.
Previous supervisory/management experience in an acute care setting.
Previous experience working in a Quality Management Department in a health care setting.
Effective communication, organizational and analytical skills.
Demonstrated efficiency in using computer applications.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to lead a group of individuals toward a common goal.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Platform.
Medical terminology is required.
Demonstrated ability to learn new software (policy tech, Microsoft Visio, other database activities as required.)
Good command of Joint Commission standards and CMS regulations to assure basic requirements for facility preparation for various accreditation surveys.
Strong command of financial management concepts and creating a departmental budget.
Quality improvement and/or patient safety knowledge and experience.
Basic statistical knowledge.
Knowledge of TeamSTEPPS.
Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) certification from NAHQ or Health Care Quality and Management (HCQM) Certification.
Green Belt certification from an accredited organization or currently enrolled in program to obtain certification from an accredited organization within 18 months of hire date.
Understanding of how the medical center departments interact with each other to support patient care and operations.
Ability to work with a wide variety of staff to assist in overall program planning and execution.
Previous experience in a role with responsibilities directly related to Quality Management/Performance Improvement/Joint Commission accreditation, Infection Control
